About the University of Hertfordshire

The University of Hertfordshire (UOH) is located in Hertfordshire, United Kingdom. Its antecedent institution, Hatfield Technical College, was founded in the year 1948 and was identified as one of the 25 Colleges of Technology in the UK in 1959. The University has two campuses which are based in College Lane and de Havilland. The institution has over 25,130 students, this includes more than 5,200 international students that together represent at least 100 countries. The university has 11 schools, these include: Hertfordshire Business School, Computer Science, Creative Arts, Education, Engineering and Technology, Health and Social Work, Humanities (which oversees its CATS programme), Hertfordshire Law School, Life and Medical Sciences, Physics, Astronomy and Mathematics and Hertfordshire Higher Education Consortium. Hertfordshire is a member of the University Alliance, Universities UK and European University Association.

Campus and facilities at the University of Hertfordshire

University of Hertfordshire is located at Hatfield, Hertfordshire and has two campuses at College Lane and de Havilland. The University is only located 25 minutes by tain from London, it is situated in the stunning countryside north of the capital. The two campuses in Hatfield are ten minutes walk apart and are connected through a network of pathways, cycle routes as well as  shuttle buses. Hatfield is a majestic town with approximately 30,000 people in the region of Hertfordshire. It boasts numerous pubs and The Forum, which is an admired entertainment venue amongst students. The town centre presents a regular market as well as a farmers’ market every month. The university has facilities galore for each department which enhance the learning experience to multi-fold. A small campus at Bayfordbury houses the well-known observatory. The College Lane campus features the Library and Computer Centre, lecture halls, offices, halls of residence, labs, cafes, students’ union, the Hertfordshire International College, the Hertfordshire Intensive Care & Emergency Simulation Centre and a new science building. The de Havilland Campus is a 15 minute walk from College Lane. It features the Learning Resource Centre, Hertfordshire Sports Village, Auditorium, 11 halls of residence and a premier mock courtroom. The Bayfordbury campus features the astronomical observatory – among the largest teaching observatories in the UK, the Regional Science Learning Centre and Field Stations for geography and biology disciplines. The University is known for its BioPark facility (science complex), the Westin Auditorium, extensive laboratory and office areas for health and life science disciplines, art galleries and a famous teaching observatory.

Sports Facilities

UOH offers ACTIVE STUDENTS service for casual sports and HERTSQUAD CAMPUS SPORT for competitive sports facilities. Hertfordshire Sports Village features a Gym and Fitness Centre, swimming pool, climbing wall, squash courts, etc. They have a UOH racing track. They conduct courses and research in sports too. The sports include basketball, netball, football, badminton, yoga, Pilates, swimming, climbing, racing etc.

The Hertfordshire Students’ Union assists students and hosts events at an impressive facility called The Forum Hertfordshire. They provide special interest societies, student reps, students’ jobs opportunities and advice.

There are abundant private rented properties in the vicinity, and the students also have the option to reside with a local family as a lodger. They are self-catered, fully furnished with 24 security and free Wi-Fi, with rent inclusive of insurance and utilities. All new students are guaranteed on-campus accommodation.

Owen Farell bagged his Business Degree from the  University Hertfordshire  in the year 2014. The famous English Rugby player is currently the highest profile individual on the list.
