About the University of Bedfordshire

The University of Bedfordshire has its two main campuses in Luton and Bedford. There are also two dedicated campuses for teaching nursing and midwifery degrees, these are at Butterfield Park on the outskirts of Luton and at Buckinghamshire campus at Aylesbury College in Aylesbury. Bedfordshire University also has a business school which is based on the Putteridge Bury campus, it offers postgraduate and undergraduate degrees to students who want to study business and management.

Campus and facilities at the University of Bedfordshire

University of Bedfordshire is also known as ‘Beds’, it is popular for its vibrant and very cosmopolitan student community. Beds is a modern and yet innovative university with a heritage of the very best education facilities going back more than a 100 years. The major UK campuses are located in Luton, Bedford, Milton Keynes and Aylesbury with numerous partner colleges across the UK that include London School of Commerce in London as well as Birmingham. Luton is one of the UK’s biggest towns, and also one of the highly diverse one. Around 140 diverse nationalities reside in this vivacious, multicultural society. Services for International Students at the  University of Bedfordshire

The International Office oversees the international student support facilities at UOB. They help with visas and immigration, accommodation, communication skills, etc. The StudyHub at UOB Library helps international students with academic or IT assistance. Special teams are set up to communicate with prospective students from overseas countries. Team I deals with students from India. The university also conducts a formal Communication Skills course, which mainly deals with academic English, various aspects of British university culture as well as further general study skills. Every international student who is new to the university is also given a friend, who is already a current international student who will lend a hand as you settle into your new environment. Accommodation on Campus for the University of Bedfordshire

The University of Bedfordshire provides accommodation at the Luton Student Village, Bedford Liberty Park and Bedford Student Village. Separate accommodation options are available at the Aylesbury campus. The halls of residence host events like movie nights, BBQs, etc. They feature a gym, cinema, laundry room, 24 security and Wi-Fi. Rooms range from standard, deluxe, deluxe plus to studio. Rooms are  fully furnished, self-catering and have shared common areas. To enable student residents to socialize and meet new friends they institution conducts the Village Life Events Programme. In Bedford, students can opt from two diverse accommodation options at the Student Village or the Liberty Park. The contemporary en-suite accommodation features fully furnished flats for students to make a home away from home. Fitzroy Court and Wenlock Court provide 852 ultra modern bedrooms and excellent communal recreational spaces, equipped with gym and laundry facilities. There are eight further self-catered halls of residence – all  of these are close to the campus as well as the town centre. Additionally, students can discover off-campus accommodation too. The University can help find privately rented accommodation either in a hall of residence or in University-approved housing.

Improvements and Expansion at the University of Bedfordshire

The University has invested over £130 million in building and redeveloping its various student and teaching facilities. The University is continually investing multi-million pounds towards the state-of-the-art facilities to provide students with the best environment to succeed. The brand new, three-storey Gateway building, opened its doors to students at the Bedford campus in 2015. The building features high-quality teaching spaces, lecture theatre rooms, informal study spaces as well as a new student services centre – everything you could need under a single roof.

  • Stephen Kelman, novelist

Stephen Kelman is a British novelist, his debut novel was the Pigeon English. It was a shortlisted nominee for 2011 Man Booker Prize, the Desmond Elliot Prize as well the 2011 writer of the year and guardian first book award.  Stephen studied marketing from University of Bedfordshire.
