Overview


Lancaster University established in 1964 was initially based in St Leonard's Gate in the city centre, before moving in 1967 to a 300 acres hilltop campus in Bailrigg. Princess Alexandra was the first chancellor. The University has nine colleges, and it is ranked in the top ten in all three national league tables. Lancaster University has bagged a Gold rating in the Government's inaugural Teaching Excellence Framework in 2017. The university offers undergraduate degree programs, postgraduate courses as well as research and doctoral programs. It is centered on technology, humanities, business subjects, natural sciences, modern languages and social sciences. Lancaster University has more than 148,000 alumni in over 180 countries. The university has an incredible list of notable alumni including Roger Ashton-Griffiths actor; Andrew Brooke Miller, Novelist; Catherine Jane Smith, a member of British Labour Party and many others.
